Patrick Beirne
Joe Beirne
As the Director of Operational Finance, Joe oversees the Project Management team, Project Support team, Pre-Construction team, and Shop. His main focuses have been building out processes and departments to ensure Nelson is organized, prepared, and efficient in all our efforts for our clients. Culture remains a top priority for Joe as the right people make the difference. Prior to joining Nelson, Joe started his career auditing technology companies in Silicon Valley for EY and then joined Waterlogic where he got exposure to M&A, system migrations, launching a US based factory, established a Dallas HQ, and many other corporate projects. When Joe is not working, he loves being active, whether that’s golfing, running, grilling in CO summer heat, or enjoying activities with friends and family.
Joe VanAelstyn
Joe VanAelstyn has an extensive resume of operational expertise. He directly supervised crews, managed individuals and multiple projects, and directed a team of project managers, superintendents, and associated field craft. He provided a crucial role for senior management teams on $400 million and $1 billion heavy civil mega-projects.
He received a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management and immediately delved into managing projects for general contractors and home builders within Colorado. This diversification in work allowed him to build relationships along the Front Range and the western U.S. and develop the necessary skills leading up to his current position at Nelson Pipeline Constructors.
Joe received his MBA from Colorado State University, which he utilizes to further develop his team’s skills and assist with 360 – degree management to provide feedback on improving the systems and processes on operational feedback to other internal departments. Safety, quality, labor and equipment utilization, subcontractor buyout, and JIT delivery of material are just a few of the many items discussed regularly with the PMs and key field supervisors on improving ROI across every project. Joe helps ensure Nelson achieves its yearly KPIs and maintains its advantage in the industry.
Kimmy Mackey
Joining the team as Nelson Pipeline’s Controller, Kimmy is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations and collaborating with other members of the management team to ensure Nelson’s continued financial success. She is focused on learning and development with the goal of ensuring the accounting team maintains the skillsets necessary to present consistent, accurate financial reporting.
Kimmy gained a wide breadth of accounting, leadership and process improvement skills from her previous experience working in both large, publicly traded companies and smaller start-ups. Outside of work Kimmy enjoys international travel, gluten free baking, and daily walks with her dog.
Michelle Fehr
Michelle is the Human Resources Director at Nelson Pipeline, where she oversees daily HR operations and is dedicated to cultivating a vibrant company culture, enhancing employee engagement, building strategic career development plans, and designing comprehensive benefits plans. Her leadership ensures that Nelson remains a top-notch workplace and that employees have rewarding, long-lasting careers.
Before joining Nelson, Michelle gained extensive experience across Fortune 500 companies and global start-up IT firms, ultimately finding the ideal fit with Nelson. Outside of work Michelle enjoys all things Colorado – hiking, skiing, camping – with her husband and dogs.
Kris Runung
Kris serves as the Senior Manager of Operations at Nelson Pipeline, where he is responsible for ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and profitably. Kris works closely with project managers and superintendents to maintain high standards of quality and cost control across all company projects. Their commitment to clear communication and meticulous cost tracking ensures that every project not only meets but exceeds client expectations. With a keen eye for detail and a strategic approach to operations, Kris plays a pivotal role in driving the company’s success. His primary focus is on continuous improvement, leveraging his experience to enhance operational processes, and fostering a culture of excellence.
Before joining Nelson Pipeline, Kris spent 12 years in the construction industry, honing his skills in project engineering, project management, and operational leadership for a Denver-based concrete subcontractor. Outside of work, Kris enjoys golfing, spending time with friends and family, and renovating his home with his wife.
Ernesto Amparan
Ernesto as General Superintendent oversees field operations through management of Superintendents and Foreman, prioritizing safety, quality, production, and staffing. Responsibilities include training, developing, and coordinating field leadership, ensuring alignment with project goals, budget, schedule, and quality standards. His focus is to ensure that the construction project is completed safely, on time, and to the required standards. He oversees all aspects of the construction process, from planning to completion and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the construction site. Before joining Nelson Ernesto worked for a logging company in Wyoming, Started with Nelson in 1992 as a field laborer and worked his way up until he got the opportunity to become General Superintendent. Outside of work Ernesto enjoys camping, hunting, and jeeping.
Jeff Reckard
As the Senior Estimating Manager, Jeff oversees the estimating team. He meets with clients on upcoming work, assigns bids, estimates and reviews bids from the estimating team. Solicits and meets with suppliers and subcontractors for the best possible project construction team.
Prior to joining Nelson, Jeff started his career in the field as a laborer working his way up the ranks until he had an opportunity to estimate, and project manage. He prefers the estimating side as it’s rewarding when the customer says the project is yours. When Jeff is not working, he loves attending the grandkids activities, golfing, hunting, vacationing and being with family and friends.
